Island Health is seeking a nurse practitioner (NP) to join a team of primary care providers and allied health team members to collectively deliver team-based urgent and primary care services at the James Bay Urgent and Primary Care Centre. There is the option for this position to be filled by one full-time (1.0) NP or two half-time (0.5FTE) NPs.

In this service contract position the nurse practitioner will work collaboratively with an inter-disciplinary health care team to provide culturally safe urgent and primary care. Patient visits will consist of unscheduled urgent care and scheduled longitudinal full service or same day primary care patient visits.

Acting as the most responsible primary care provider, there is a requirement for the practitioner to establish a minimum patient panel.

After hours’ care for patients is inherent in the services. The nurse practitioner will participate in an after-hours call group, sharing after-hours coverage with other practitioners, to include physicians and nurse practitioners, at the clinic.
