Operational Review

- Operational review is a separate process from research ethics review
- Approval processes will be conducted concurrently wherever possible
In order to conduct research at Island Health, and in addition to research ethics review, approval must be obtained from all department(s) at Island Health that are involved in the support or conduct of the research project.
If the Principal/Qualified Investigator is not affiliated with Island Health, please contact our office for procedures on how to become affiliated.
Apply for Operational Review
TheResearch Services Portalnow contains all the approvals and application forms required for your research project at Island Health. Indicate the Operational approvals required for your project in the Research Ethics Application Form under the tab for Operational Review.
Once your application is submitted, the Director/Manager(s) of each department will receive an email advising them that their is a research application that requires their approval. They can indicate in the review process whether they support the research study being conducted in their department.
Also included as part of the Portal are the specific requests for support for research from:
- Laboratory Services
- Medical Imaging
- Health Records
- Pharmacy
- Heart Health
